Left UPS, or about to? You’ll still need a few things from your old employer — your W-2, your final pay, and decisions about your 401(k), pension and health coverage. This guide walks former UPS employees through accessing UPSers after leaving, getting tax forms, and handling your retirement money.
This is an independent guide. Access and processes vary and can change — for your situation, contact UPS Payroll or the UPS HR Service Center. We are not affiliated with UPS.
Can you still log in to UPSers after leaving?
It depends. Many former employees retain UPSers access for a limited time after their last day — long enough to download tax documents — while others find their login is deactivated. A few tips:
- Try logging in at upsers.com; if your password fails, use the Forgot Password link.
- Make sure the recovery email/phone on your account is still one you can access — update it before you leave if possible.
- If access has ended, don’t worry — you can still get your W-2 the other ways below.
How to get your UPS W-2 after leaving
By law, UPS mails your W-2 by January 31 to the address on file — so keep your mailing address current. If it doesn’t arrive or you need a copy, try these in order:
- ADP (my.adp.com): UPS pay/tax records are often available here — you can usually retrieve a W-2 for the last three years and print it immediately. For forms older than three years, you’ll need the IRS.
- UPSers portal: if you can still log in, download the W-2 from your tax documents.
- UPS Payroll: call and say clearly, “I’m a former employee and need my W-2 reissued.”
- UPS HR Service Center: if self-service doesn’t work, request it here.
- IRS (last resort): if UPS still hasn’t provided it after you’ve tried, contact the IRS — you’re protected by law and can file with Form 4852.

Your final paycheck
Your last paycheck — including any owed wages and, where required, unused vacation — is issued according to your state’s final-pay laws and your contract. If you had direct deposit, it usually lands the same way; otherwise watch for a mailed check.
What happens to your 401(k)?
Your UPS 401(k) Savings Plan (administered by Voya) is yours to keep. After leaving you generally have a few options:
- Leave it in the UPS plan (usually allowed if your balance is above the plan’s minimum).
- Roll it over to an IRA or a new employer’s 401(k) — no taxes if done as a direct rollover.
- Cash out — fastest, but you’ll owe income tax and likely a 10% early-withdrawal penalty if you’re under 59½.
Your pension (if vested)
If you stayed long enough to vest in your UPS/Teamster pension, you’ve earned a deferred benefit payable at retirement age — even after you leave. Contact your pension fund to confirm your vested status and how to claim it later. If you left before vesting, the pension is generally forfeited.
Continuing health coverage (COBRA)
When your UPS health coverage ends, you may be able to continue it temporarily through COBRA — typically for up to 18 months — but you’ll pay the full premium yourself. Watch for a COBRA election notice, or ask HR/your health fund about the deadline to enroll.
If you’re rehired later
Returning to UPS? Depending on your contract and how long you were gone, some seniority or benefits may or may not be restored. Ask your local and HR before you assume your old status carries over.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get my UPS W-2 after leaving?
UPS mails it by January 31 to your address on file. You can also retrieve it via ADP (my.adp.com), the UPSers portal if you still have access, or by contacting UPS Payroll or the HR Service Center. As a last resort, the IRS can help.
Can former employees log in to UPSers?
Sometimes — many keep access for a limited time after leaving, but it may be deactivated. If you can’t log in, use ADP or contact UPS Payroll for your tax forms.
What can I do with my UPS 401(k) after I quit?
You can leave it in the plan, roll it over to an IRA or new 401(k), or cash it out (which may trigger taxes and a 10% penalty if you’re under 59½).
Do I keep my UPS pension if I leave?
Only if you vested. A vested pension is payable at retirement age even after you leave; if you left before vesting, it’s generally forfeited. Contact your pension fund to check.
