UPS is one of the largest employers in the world, and it hires year-round — from seasonal package handlers to full-time drivers and management. This guide answers the most common UPS careers questions: how and where to apply, the main roles and what they pay, how the application and interview process works, plus a set of UPSers portal FAQs for once you’re hired.

This is an independent help guide. Apply for real jobs on the official UPS careers site (jobs-ups.com) and manage your employment at www.upsers.com — we are not affiliated with United Parcel Service.

Working at UPS: roles, pay and how to apply

Where to apply

All UPS openings are posted on the official careers site, jobs-ups.com. Search by location and role, create a profile, and apply directly online. Listings change daily, so check back often. Already an employee? You can find internal job postings after logging in to UPSers.

Main UPS roles

  • Package handler / warehouse worker — loading and sorting packages; usually part-time on the preload (early morning) or reload (evening) shift, roughly 17–25 hours a week.
  • Package delivery driver — the iconic brown-truck role, full-time and union after qualifying.
  • Seasonal package handlers and driver helpers — temporary roles during the peak holiday season, a common way in the door.
  • Management, IT, mechanics, and corporate — salaried and specialized positions.

UPS pay highlights

UPS pay is strong for the industry and is set largely by the Teamsters contract for union roles (it varies by location, role and seniority):

  • Package handlers commonly start around $21/hour.
  • Delivery drivers start near $23/hour and progress to a top rate above $40/hour after about four years under the 2023 Teamsters agreement.
  • Seasonal rates vary by market and time of year.

Many part-time employees also get benefits, a 401(k) and pension, and Earn & Learn tuition help — and UPS frequently promotes from within, so a part-time start can lead to a full-time career.

UPS careers – frequently asked questions

I don’t see the job or location I want on jobs-ups.com. Can I still apply?

Openings change daily, so check jobs-ups.com regularly to see if a role or location starts recruiting. You can view which locations are actively hiring and what they’re offering.

I applied for a part-time job — when will I hear back?

UPS gets a high volume of part-time applications, so not every applicant is contacted. If there’s an opening, you’ll be invited to an interview or tour. Your application generally stays active for at least 60 days; check its status in the Application Center on jobs-ups.com using the passcode you created when applying.

Can I check or reschedule my interview, and get directions?

Yes. Sign in to the Application Center at jobs-ups.com with your personal passcode to view your interview date and time, reschedule if needed, and get directions to the interview site.

What if I can’t meet a job requirement because of my religious beliefs?

UPS has a Religious Accommodation process. If a sincerely held religious belief conflicts with a requirement (such as the uniform or appearance guidelines), tell the interviewer and ask them to complete UPS’s Religious Accommodation Request Form.

Does UPS use temporary or contingent staff?

Yes. UPS runs a centralized Global Contingent Staffing Program (GCSP) and works with approved staffing agencies for temporary assignments, with candidate pre-screening by phone or email.
